British Public ‘Not Paying For Princess Beatrice’s Wedding’

Many Brits love nothing more than a royal wedding, waiting in anticipation to see the regal bride in her beautiful wedding dress, the happy couple do the royal hand wave as they are driven away in a swanky car, and the endless streams of photos in the magazines to ogle at afterwards.

We even love watching young love tie the knot so much that having to foot the bill for these costly ‘couplings’ has not been much of a contentious issue in the past.

However, times seemed to have changed, as the latest royal wedding is set to be privately funded, not costing the British taxpayer a single penny.

When Princess Beatrice ties the knot with her beloved Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, they will pay for their big day themselves, according to a palace spokesperson who revealed the news to the Daily Express recently.

This could be in response to her sister’s – Princess Eugenie – wedding costing a cool £2 million when she wed Jack Brooksbank on October 12^th last year, something which did anger some anti-royalists somewhat.

In fact, a petition was even launched before the daughter of Princess Andrew and Sarah Ferguson got married, which was signed by 14,000 people.

At the time, a Republic spokesperson said: “There is a strong feeling, even among monarchists, that we shouldn’t be paying for Eugenie’s big day.”

This move could also be because Princess Beatrice’s nuptials will be the third royal wedding in two years, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tying the knot in a £32 million wedding in May 2018.

Princess Beatrice has only been engaged to her fiance for a couple of weeks, revealing her happy news on Instagram late last month, yet, like many couples, stress about wedding plans have started already.
