The Differences Between Analogue And Digital Photo Booths
The revival of analogue film has been a fascinating trend to behold, particularly as it has led to a shift in how photo booths have been used.
Whilst the most feature-filled, customisable and high-quality photo booths for corporate events continue to be highly advanced models suited for a wide range of physical and social media uses, analogue photo booths are having a moment in the sun right now.
Nearly a century after their invention and after nearly a decade of escaping extinction, analogue photo booths have started to see a resurgence, and there is a temptation for some event managers to incorporate them into their corporate events.
A lot of this is the result of the same nostalgia that led to the revival of Polaroid and the instant camera market more broadly. The beautiful simplicity and rawness of instant photography have an appeal all of their own, able to capture raw moments without the possibility of post-processing or editing.
However, whilst the revival of analogue film is always welcome as a historical curiosity, the historic, traditional photo booth is an evolutionary dead end.
Unlike modern photo booths, which can continue to evolve in terms of presentation, production and availability, traditional photo booths will inevitably be limited in terms of the types of photographs they can produce.
There will be no opportunity to produce digital copies of analogue photographs, nor the chance to produce panoramic, 360-degree images, video photographs or even three-dimensional photo booth figurines.
The future of photo booths is limitless, but to reach that point, they had to cast away the limitations inherent with traditional photo booths and rely on much more scalable forms of technology.
The printouts are on high-quality photo paper, aided by advances in digital lenses, but unlike analogue photo booths, that is not the only offering that a modern photo booth can provide.
