Award season has now come and gone, culminating in the prestigious Oscars, so the question is how will the red carpet events influence your next big soiree?

This was a big look at the Academy Awards last weekend (March 12th), with Emily Blunt, Michelle Williams, Cara Delevingne, and Best Female Actress-winner Michelle Yeoh all donning shades of white and ivory on the night. 

Something else that shocked viewers at the Oscars was the replacement of the legendary red carpet with a beige version. It is thought this was so the flooring did not clash with fashion choices, so you might take inspiration if you are hosting a big event and swap red carpets for cream ones. 

Another popular trend this year was sustainability, with many stars showing up to the award ceremonies in dresses they had previously worn before. Even the Princess of Wales decided to wear the Alexander McQueen one-shoulder dress she wore to the 2019 BAFTAs at this year’s event. She simply altered her accessories by slipping on full-length black gloves and a pair of statement dangling earrings to create a different look. 

There are other ways to make sustainable choices when organising an event, including having a vegan menu. Although only two to three per cent of the country are vegan, a growing proportion are cutting down on animal products, so would appreciate the move towards greener catering.
